Someone stealing savings bonds?

US Savings Bonds
Alyssa Nichole // Xan’s Mom asked:

My fiance and I having been helping out his mother for the past year on and off. We have bought groceries for her if she needed them, and when she was moving out of her house he helped her around the house and did yard work to help her sell it. We both have also let her borrow money from us.

We have recently found out that my fiance has savings bonds that she had, but never mentioned. We have also found out that she has stolen and cashed in some of these bonds. She has also been holding a sufficient amount of bonds that he is entitled to own. He has been repeatedly asking for them back, but she kept on threatening to rid of them and now she won’t answer any of our calls, texts, or she will pick up the phone and hang it up every once in awhile. We have also tried going to talk to her in person, but things just end up in an argument.

So my question is.. Is there any legal action we can take to get these bonds? Or even have her pay us back for the amount that she has stolen?

It’s been a very frustration situation with everything that we have been helping her out with.

Thanks in advance!
