How long do you have to transfer series EE savings bonds out of your deceased husband’s name and into yours?

savings bonds
gina h asked:

I want to cash them but they are in his name only. I didn’t have to have his estate probated. Everything went to me because I was his spouse. I live in Missouri if that makes a difference.
I know what I need to do to get them transferred. My question is how long do I have after his death to get them transferred?

The bank you deal with and ask them this same question they deal with and ask them this same question they deal with ee bonds.

Since the bonds didn’t list you as the POD, you are going to have to offer proof that he’s dead and that you are the hier and mail everything to WV.
