Where can I cash my savings bonds? And what about a name change?

I have bonds from the late 1980’s that have fully appreciated… I’m in need of some money, and would like to cash them in. Can I do it right at the bank? Also, my last name changed in 1992. What do I have to do to cash in the bonds with my old last name still on them?

You can cash them at the bank. Bring proper ID’s and certificate of name change whether it was marriage or what not. Banks will take care of you.

go to the county court house in the district u live in to discuss any name change! or call ur social security number on ur card and driver’s license change and passport change only if it is a marriage change over!

Call your bank. They can probably do it or tell you where you can take them. Ask them what proof of name change they would like. Often a marriage certificate is sufficient.

Call your bank and find out what documents you need to bring with you when you come to cash in your bonds with your old name.
