Just Curious asked:

I am asking my fiance to marry me, and I thought a good idea would be to purchase a 500 dollar savings bond to show the love that will grow over time, marriage is an investment and also give it to her for her retirement fond when she gets old…Does anyone know the best one to purchase? How much will it gain over 30 years?
Would it be better to open a savings account?

Its a very sweet idea, but the interest rate is pretty weak, maybe 1.2% a year. Check w/your local bank for current rates.
